Job Description
Summary:  Integrated Machinery Solutions (IMS) is a growing Engineering and Manufacturing Company currently accepting applicants for a Production Control Supervisor.  We are looking for an innovative person who has the ability to improve a premier procurement organization which supports the business and objectives of long-term growth. This is a vital role in the daily operations of the company.   

In this role, manage orders, ensure orders are completed in a timely manner, and assist with data entry functions.  Must enjoy a fast-paced dynamic environment in a facility that is experiencing significant growth. Must have experience and working knowledge of purchasing within a manufacturing and warehouse environment. Must be highly organized and have excellent communication, problem-solving, and budgetary/cost analysis skills. Must be able to work under pressure and resolve problems quickly.  Must be flexible, display a willingness to adapt to a changing work scope and open to assuming various tasks from the menial to the complex. The position will require project management skills to keep on task and manage multiple inputs on a consistent basis.

Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following; other duties may be assigned.
  • Solicit supplier quotations and evaluate bids for all departments; evaluate and maintain record of performance of approved vendors.
  • Review areas in which prices can be re-negotiated; negotiate with current sources to secure the most advantageous terms, highest quality, best delivery, and lowest price.
  • Perform all procurement activities including the selection, development and rationalization of the supplier base in concert with the team and quality.
  • Analyze forecast, MRP and ensure the timely procurement and production of goods in support of customer needs.
  • Establishes and maintains metrics that measure vendor performance.
  • Coordinate and track the arrival of all materials needed to manufacture customer orders. Discusses defective or unacceptable goods with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Expedite parts and follow up as necessary to expedite overdue orders or those with the potential of critical delays to production.
  • Maintain consistent vendor contact with emphasis on results-oriented relationships.
  • Inform the supply chain manager of all issues that may require immediate action or attention at that level of the organization.
  • Work with accounting to clear up any invoicing needs.
  • Prepares purchase orders or bid requests and sends copy to supplier and department originating the request, if appropriate
  • Timely follow up of PO’s and request to ensure on time delivery is met.
Supervisory Responsibilities: 
  • Supervise a team of Production Control Associates in order to meet department goals via appropriate allocation of workload and effective resource management
  • Monitor day to day work of staff for process adherence and compliance
  • Mentor, evaluate, and develop employees
  • Control inventory levels and execution of processes by conducting physical counts, reconciling with the inventory management system, and optimizing the speed and flow of inventory within the facility.  (accuracy, stock levels, organization, JIT, cost, min/max levels, maintain system quantities so we can use the system to track orders.  Inventory turns need to match our standard deliveries on each product.  Trucks 7 turns a year, Hoist 4.5 turns a year.
  • Job cost and closing:  closing orders, job cost, estimate verses actual, inventory auditing
  • Scheduling:  planning of constraints, machining scheduling, fab cells schedule, wire and conduit, painting, long leads match assembly needs, labor capacity loading
  • Purchasing:  Long range purchasing and negotiations of finish goods, raw material and partnerships with vendors, cost reduction as quantities increase.
  • Manufacturing software: Utilize the software to help grow the manufacturing group, scheduling through system, min/max levels, reorder reports.
Education and Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college in business or commensurate experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years work experience in procurement in a manufacturing environment
  • Bid Evaluation: 3-5 years (Required)
  • Purchase Order Preparation: 3-5 years (Required)
  • Procurement: 3-5 years (Required)
  • Pricing and Terms Negotiation: 3-5 years (Required)
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with peers, management, employees and vendors
  • Detail oriented with a priority of accuracy
  • Must possess strong administrative, multi-tasking capabilities and organizational skills with a pro-active attitude
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and distribution procedures and capacities, products and production process
  • Skilled in Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Knowledge of MRP
  • Must have the ability to read and comprehend machining drawings and specifications.
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative, works with minimum of supervision. Knowledge of buyer business software. Detail oriented/sense of urgency.

Work Environment:
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. In certain areas of the facility personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes.
